Inner Strength

Today I was reminded of a former classmate that has overcome such significant loss, and has a found a positive outlet to give back to the larger community and honor her loved one’s memory.  Her strength and resolve is such an inspiration to me.  It was this reflection on her resilience that inspired today’s quote selection.

I have not faced a tragedy even close to the scale of hers, and honestly I hope that I am spared that distinction… but I have had moments of adversity when I doubted I’d be strong enough to take it on.  Through my faith and focus, I managed to dig deep and take life one day at a time.  Thanks to a lot of patience and determination I made it through these dark periods, and was amazed by my ability to persevere.

So when faced with a major challenge, these words might be a good reminder:

“You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.” ~ Unknown

Here’s to hoping we all won’t be tested to discover the depths of our strength.

Strength — Holding On vs Letting Go (Quote)

“Some of us think holding on is strong, but sometimes it is letting go”~ Hermann Hesse

So much truth in this quote that can be applied to relationships, habits, arguments … Reading it makes me pause and think, “What am I holding on to for the sake of being strong (stubborn, or right) that I should just let go & be free?” Don’t get me wrong, some things are absolutely worth fighting for. But often we are less than selective of picking our battles, or knowing when it’s right for us to move on.
